Focusing on gear systems, founder David Brown set out to create a company that provided high quality machine cut gears for all types of tractors. The first tractor that was built was in 1936 in part with Harry Ferguson and the result was the Ferguson-Brown tractor. The Ferguson-Brown was a revolutionary design in that many of the parts were cast alloy which provided for a lighter weight but were more susceptible to damage.
